So, here we are at the start of another Dewey's Read-a-Thon.   This will be the fourteenth I have participated in going back to June 2008.   The stats over the previous 13 are:  13,923 pages read at an average of 1071 per event, 148 hours 18 minutes read at an average of 11 hours 15 minutes per event and 43 books finished which is an average of 3.3 per read-a-thon.

Now to the opening Meme before I get started:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?  The Woodlands, Texas, USA (just north of Houston)
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? N/A I read the books in the order I get them (kinda) so don't look ahead.   The mystery of what the next book I am going to read is part of the fun.3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?  Many have been made by wife and friend who are participating.   They will all be good!4) Tell us a little something about yourself!  An ex-pat Englishman now living in Texas with my wonderful wife Jenn and our furry family.5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?  This is my fourteenth.  I just enjoy the day not having to worry about anything else.

I am starting with the book I am currently reading.  This is Vortex by Larry Bond.   I am on page 610 of 896.

Happy to see you here at the Readathon. I'm your neighbor just south of you. It's my fourteenth readathon and I'm quite determined to get in my 24 hours this time. We'll see.
